Welcome to Travels and Tales
About the Tale & the Traveler
“🌍 Billions of years of Earth, and we are not even witnessing a mere 1% of its history.”
If you’ve found yourself here, you’re likely looking for more than just a flight itinerary or a list of “top ten” tourist traps. You’re looking for the pulse of a place.
Welcome to Travels and Tales, a digital corner where the grit of backpacking meets the rhythm of poetry. This site is a collection of my “crude writings”—unfiltered, honest, and often deeply personal reflections from the road and the heart.
The Vision
I believe that travel is a paradox. It is the exhaustion of backpacking across the Baltics and the stillness of a sunset in Cyprus. It is being “Disconnected Yet Connected.” My mission is to document the world as it is: beautiful, messy, and profoundly human.
Here, I bridge the gap between two worlds:
- The Travels: Real, budget-friendly adventures through places like Albania, Portugal, and beyond. I focus on the journeys that don’t ask for permission.
- The Tales: Short stories and poetic musings. Because sometimes, a train ride through Estonia inspires a story that has nothing to do with geography and everything to do with the soul.
The Voice Behind the Words
I am Sreeja Gadhiraju. I am a hopeless romantic, a backpacker, and a storyteller. I don’t just want to see the world; I want to feel its history and write about the lessons it leaves behind—like the ones learned from a year like 2025, which arrived without an invitation.
I write for the girls who travel solo, the dreamers who find home in people rather than places, and the adventurers who know that the best stories are often found in the “crude” moments of life.
Stay a While
Whether you are here to plan your next escape or to find a reflection of your own inner monologue in my poetry, I’m glad you’ve arrived.
Let’s explore this 1% of history together.
